Satellite Internet
Satellite Internet is the form of broadband internet access that allows the connection of a computer or a network of computers to the Internet via a satellite. It is mostly used in areas where the traditional terrestrial internet access (DSL, Cable) is not available and in locations that move frequently including vessels at sea and automotive vehicles.
Satellite Internet requires specialised equipment (router and antenna) that transmits or receives the satellite signal and a subscription to a satellite Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Based on the way of communication, there are 2 types of Satellite Internet. These are the older 1-way (download only) and the 2-way (both upload and download) internet connections and they vary from each other on the method used to broadcast information (upload) to the satellite.
First Telecom offers the 2-way connection, which is completely independent from any terrestrial cabling with all limitations that it implies.
